by Linda Penner (Author)

No one wants to admit defeat, but sometimes divorce and the disintegration of a toxic relationship can be the best thing that ever happened to you

It may not feel so at the time, but with perspective, good friends, and a glass or two of wine, you will be able see the cad for what he was-and learn to move on with your life.

This was the case for author Linda Penner when she got divorced. In this memoir-based work of creative nonfiction, she looks back on what she thinks is a romantic life and realizes her husband put up so many red flags it could have been a parade. Taking his phone into the shower with him. Impersonal cards and gifts. Late-night dog-walking trips (why is he wearing cologne?).

A closer glance at the Visa bill confirms the worst. Linda knows when enough is enough, and she forges ahead on a new journey.

It will not be an easy one. Fraught with nosy coworkers, fair-weather friends, and frustratingly elusive childcare, the days are long, and the nights are too short. But Linda sallies forth. Her hilarious adventures as a newly single woman are inspirational and freeing.

Author Biography

Linda Penner learned how much a sense of humor, and a funny book, can help to get through the dark days of divorce. With firsthand experience at the trials of being a single mother and career woman, she vowed to channel her own life experiences into a humorous, satirical examination of the aftereffects of divorce in support of other women going through similar crises.

Penner is an accomplished writer. She became passionate about writing and storytelling as a young child, took college literary programs, and is currently in a writer's club. Her work has been published in Canadian Stories Magazine and The LifeStory Institute.

Penner spent her career in the financial industry. She now lives a charmed life of retirement in southern Alberta, Canada with her dog, Beau, and Syd, her stalwart and true Frog Prince.
