When I started to take writing more seriously, I found that it was a constructive way to express my true feelings in a healthy way, and to sort things out in my mind. Writing poetry has helped me to understand myself better, brought me through times of severe depression, and has even been an aid in leading me to Jesus Christ. I also discovered that it was a wonderful way to describe what emotions God, an event, an object, a pet, or an aspect of nature conjured up in me; or to tell someone how I felt about them, or about something they did. It is my sincere hope that you will try your hand at writing poetry, and that it will do for you what it has done for me. This book will give you some good advice on how to get started, how to hone your skills, and how to use this special form of writing to assist you in getting to know yourself better and express your emotions to help you work through the more confusing, difficult, and challenging times of your life. Being able to write poetry has been a blessing to me. I believe it can be a blessing for you, too.
