God laid the foundation of human existence in the fabric of relationships with vertical and lateral components for survival and well-being. The vertical component establishes the spiritual connection with God the Creator, from which man derives the energy for the lateral component. The lateral component establishes living paradigms and outlines healthy development and maintenance rules, obligations, and responsibilities. Therefore, whether vertically or laterally, human relationships are designed to be a two-way street, requiring reciprocal obligation or joint action.
