Akwesane is a Mohawk community located along the St Lawrence River in Northern New York and Southern Ontario and Quebec. The traditional music of the Mohawk (one of six nations comprising the Iroquois Confederacy or Haudenosaunee) is called social songs. This book is intended to describe the meaning behind the music.
