by William LeBaron (Author)
One of the only hit musicals of the 1919-20 Broadway season, Apple Blossoms, had a very respectable run of over 250 performances. With its rather daring story of a couple who agree to wed to please their parents, but live apart to pursue other romantic interests, the book, which was hailed as having "real dramatic excellence," was considered up-to-date and modern, while the music, by the highly regarded Kreisler and Jacobi, had a traditional operetta feel to it. The musical featured the dancing of Adele and Fred Astaire who stole the show and the reviews.
