by Jeff Budd (Author)
In his quest to travel to the world's deepest canyon on each continent, Jeff Budd flew from his home in Sitka, Alaska, to the mountains of Tibet, the volcanoes of Peru, and the wilderness of Antarctica.
He visited each continent in the attempt to visit the deepest canyon on each continent: Africa's Fish River Canyon, Europe's Vikos Canyon, Asia's Yarlung Tsangpo, Antarctica's Dry Valleys, South America's Colca and Cotahuasi Canyons, and North America's Copper Canyon. For Australia, Budd visited a bevy of canyons to get it right. His amazing trip wasn't really a feat of human endurance but more a glimpse into worlds few get to see.
Budd meets Tibetan monks, South American subsistence families, and the Tarahumara Indians. Along the way he faces the political realities of Tibet and the disappearance of native culture in Mexico. He hopes that the wonderful canyons of the world will inspire us all to protect them and our world.
