Recent books include the new \u003cem\u003eOxford Companion to Children's Literature\u003c\/em\u003e and a translation of Julián Fuks' \u003cem\u003eResistance\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003eOccupation\u003c\/em\u003e. He is a former chair of the Society of Authors and is presently on the board of a number of organisations that deal with literature, literacy, translation and free expression.
