This Cherokee & English comparative text was brought to realization out of pure need. This need,
stemming of course, from the many second-language learners striving tirelessly, everyday to learn the
Cherokee language. A comparative explanation is beneficial to second-language learners for various
reasons but the primary reason being, that they are able to see how their thoughts can be transformed into
Cherokee thought.
This study was designed to teach you how Cherokee speech patterns are formed. By introducing
English speech patterns followed by a [word-for-word] explanation of how that same thought is
constructed in Cherokee--you have an opportunity learn "patterns" of speech. Of course, one could learn
any language after acquiring a vast number of vocabulary words and figuring out how to put those words
together into authentic expressions.
Utilizing Cherokee speech patterns as a study tool allows you to see a structured view of Cherokee
language. Visualizing how words come together and form different types of expressions like, "if I'd have
