By ratifying the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Democratic Republic of the Congo adhered to the principles set out in the Convention. As a result, the government has recognized that all girls and boys have rights. It has also demonstrated its commitment to putting in place the structures and mechanisms necessary for the effectiveness of these rights.This text thus introduced a new concept of law, the best interests of the child; it enshrined it, as the first official international text, a long legal evolution from object to subject of law.This book deals not only with the legal aspect of the protection of the child but also with other aspects that contribute to the safeguarding of the guiding principles of the said protection.In a word, this book is interdisciplinary.
