He was also a patriot who formed part of the Aguero Conspiracy in 1851. His poetry reached the Cuban soul and became a classic of Cuban literature. This edition contains an introduction by Carlos D. Carbonell Aguilar, as well as a literary analysis by the poet Luis Mario and Professor Marino Perez Duran.
