At first, Doug is the star football player and encourages his brother Del to join the team, albeit for less-than-ideal reasons. But when his brother begins to outperform him and everyone starts raving about Del, Doug is overcome with feelings of resentment and jealousy. Things come to a head when Doug intentionally fails to block for Del in their final game of the season, and the coach intervenes.
