Author Biography

Dr. Diane Gross, DOM (NM), Dipl. OM, L.Ac., CI and CT is a doctor of oriental medicine, licensed acupuncturist and nationally certified herbalist. In addition to her work as managing practitioner in an acupuncture clinic in Greensboro, NC she is a nationally recognized sign language interpreting ergonomic consultant, providing instruction and diagnostics for interpreters seeking to minimize their risk of overuse injury. Diane served as Project Coordinator and senior writer in the development of training materials on the prevention and management of interpreting related injury for the National Technical Institute of Technology (NTID) in the early 1990s. Since that time she has continued to provide workshops and assessments for interpreters across the country. She is also able to bring a unique perspective to self-care for overuse injuries using principles based in oriental medicine, acupressure, self-massage and nutritional interventions. Diane is the author of "Sign Safely, Interpret Intelligently: A Guide to the Prevention and Management of Interpreting Related Injury."
