Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) wrote in 19th century American English and referenced long-vanished cultural contexts. Greg Mattingly is a retired corporate education and training professional who has been a guide on the staff of the Emily Dickinson Museum, in Amherst, Massachusetts, since 2010 and a contributing member of the Emily Dickinson International Society since 2008. He lives in Orange, Massachusetts.
