For a small place, Newenden turns out to have a lot of history, which just might include the pos-sible first mention of cricket, a hunting lodge owned by King Edward I, a lost fortress of King Alfred's, as well as its very own gallows. The proceeds from the sale of this publication go directly to the Friends of Saint Peter's Church, Newenden, a secular charity for the maintenance and preservation of the parish church as a his-toric monument and focal point of the village.
