Freddie the Fly's friend Stella the Stinkbug has a problem. Or lots of problems.
Some problems are BIG and some are small.

But every time she faces a problem, she reacts the same way.

She BUGS OUT.

And you know what happens when a stinkbug bugs out? It causes a BIG STINK!

With the help from Mrs. Monarch, Stella and Freddie learn about different kinds of problems: BIG problems, MEH problems, and NO BIGS. Each problem has an appropriate reaction. Mrs. Monarch teaches Stella and Freddie two important questions to ask themselves, and then the problem-solving can begin!

Follow along as Freddie and Stella learn to control their reactions to different problems, and to keep small problems small so they can be easily solved. Another great teaching story from the Freddie the Fly series by Speech-Language Pathologist and expert Kim Delude! Great for K through 5 children and the adults in their lives.

Tips are included at the end of the story to help children learn to identify when a problem is a big deal and how to match their reaction to the size of the problem.

The series also includes:

    • Freddie the Fly: Motormouth
    • Freddie the Fly: Connecting the Dots
    • Freddie the Fly: Bee On, Buzz Off
    • Freddie and Friends: Becoming Unstuck
    • Freddie the Fly: Truth or Care

Front Jacket

Can Freddie the Fly stop his friend, Stella the Stinkbug, from turning every inconvenience and problem into a messy and overly dramatic ordeal?

Stella has a habit of totally bugging out and making a big stink when problems "€" big, small and in between "€" get in her way. When she's denied the first spot in line, she flies into a destructive frenzy. When her milk spills in the lunchroom, she comes completely unglued. She even turns red and has a tizzy when someone uses her yellow crayon. Stella simply has no sense of proportion. She reacts the same way to any problem, which makes every situation bigger, louder and crazier.

In the pages of Freddie and Friends: Bugging Out, young readers discover that not all problems are equal. Some can be solved with little effort and no help. Some require an adult's attention. And others are not problems at all. Knowing how to respond appropriately is an excellent lesson for K-6 students!
