This work, as it originally appeared, ran serially from September 1898 through June 1906 in the short-lived periodical "The Spirit of 76," complete sets of which are practically unknown. The Guide consists of genealogical notices of 10,000 17th-century settlers, with dates of arrival, places of residence and removal, wife's name and date of marriage, names and dates of birth of children, dates of wills and other records, and names of ships and countries of origin. Descriptions of coats of arms are also given for many families.
