This is the long, catalog/marketing description of the product. There is so much to learn when exploring the Great Lakes Basin, a massive watershed -- the largest freshwater one in the world -- covering a staggering 94,000 square miles. In its southern reaches are animals like Virginia Opossums in hardwood forests; farther north are boreal forests where numerous warbler species nest in the summer. The mixed-wood plains in between have a little bit of everything. Those looking to deepen their connection with the land through learning about local wildlife often need a starting point, and the portable reference Great Lakes Wildlife is the ideal tool for that. It features beautiful illustrations of 140 common and familiar mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fishes, and insects as well as an ecoregion map showing over 20 wildlife-viewing hotspots and learning sites. Laminated for durability, this 12-panel folding pocket guide is a wonderful companion for educators, learners, naturalists, birders, and wildlife enthusiasts who wish to identify representative animal species and peer more closely into their fascinating lives. Made in the USA.
