Lundy, a two-month-old Chihuahua who has trouble walking due to damage to his spinal cord, was taken in by the Mia Foundation in New York. He was given a very warm welcome by Herman, a flightless pigeon who's been with the foundation for quite some time already. Sue Rogers, the center's founder, said she put them on the same dog bed while caring for Lundy and the two "started interacting immediately in a very cute way". People instantly fell in love with these unlikely friends and their story went viral around the globe. Civin Publishing Services author Todd Civin, joined with Canadian artist Jenna Walker-Cronk to bring their story to life in the book Herman and Lundy: The Differently-Abled Friendship Heard Round the World
