Shay is excited to continue her education and training for becoming a service dog for a Texas veteran. She has much to learn from her mentor, Jake. Jake is a retired service dog from the Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas. Jake has previously explained the basis of becoming a service dog through VA Dogs of Texas. Now he continues his experience about a typical day and the importance of the training that the service dogs receive from their organization.
As Jake walks Shay through the ins and outs of a normal day, he also explains the differences between various working dogs and their public access. Shay learns of the consequences of fraudulent service dogs and the Texas laws regarding service dogs and their handlers.
Jake the Service Dog- Day In, Day Out, is a picture book for children of all ages that highlights the special role that they provide for the veterans that they are assigned to.
