He's written dozens of books of crossword puzzles and the 2006 narrative book Gridlock: Crossword Puzzles and the Mad Geniuses Who Create Them (Thunder's Mouth Press). He's also the author of the Complete Idiot's Guide to Crossword Puzzles & Word Games (Alpha). Gaffney lives in Staunton, VA.
