Jurji Zaidan was one of the leading thinkers of the Arab renaissance.

Author Biography
Thomas Philipp retired in 2008 from the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-
Nürnberg, where he taught Modern History and Politics of the Middle East for twenty
years.
