In 1887 Lahoud, with his sister and best friend, fled Lebanon to escape punishment for killing two of the ruling Muslim men. In the United States, they make their own way and build on their culture. The Muslims are committed to hunt them down no matter where they are and will do so at any cost. In the town of Louisville, Kentucky, they work, earn, and grow with other Lebanese immigrant families. Lahoud becomes the leader of the Lebanese community but his wealth and power come at a very high price. This story and its characters are based upon many real life events and tales handed down from this immigrant community. It no doubt mirrors thousands of similar stories of people coming to our shores dreaming of a better life.
