While serving six years in the New York State prison system, Miquel A. Powell used poetry to reflect on the love, pain, and pleasure surrounding his troublesome life. His poetry is considered to be the best work of poetic literature we have seen in a long time. No one is able to express their feelings on such controversial topics as sex, prison, and love in the same fashion as Mr. Powell. He simply has a unique gift. Now, as a BSW student at the College at Brockport located outside of Rochester, New York- Mr. Powell has transformed his life as prophesized in many of his poems. Most people live their lives as if the outcome was just a matter of chance, but Mr. Powell believes that everything happens for a reason and that his poetry reaches, and teaches all.
