In how far does Marx's heritage still play a role in the modern construction of society?The book gives a short overview over the development of socialist democracy and analyzesarticles of the newspaper "People's Daily", the main daily publication of the party, concerningdemocracy in modern China. Furthermore, it compares the idea of democracy popularizedin society on the one side and as developed by the philosopher Karl Marx on the other; taking intoaccount the concept that problems in society repeat themselves and take place according to a historical pattern.
Author Biography
The author specializes in political relations in China and is organizator of the China Study Group Europe. He holds a Master Degree in Sinology from the University of Vienna and studied "Marxist Philosophy" at People's University of China in Beijing. Further fields of interrest are labour relations, the working class and processes within the Communist Party of China.
