Author Biography
Historian Thomas D. Perry was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina, but grew up over the state line in Ararat, Virginia. Perry graduated from Virginia Tech, where he studied under Civil War Authority James I. Robertson. In 1990, Perry began the effort to preserve the birthplace of Civil War General J. E. B. Stuart.
