"My Daddy is a Firefighter" is part of My Parent's Job Children's Series, written by a firefighter's wife in collaboration with her firefighter to portray accurate words and illustrations. The series showcases jobs and explains them on a level that a child can understand. The books are meant to bridge the gap in understanding of why a child's parent leaves for an extended period of time to go to work, and what they are doing during that duration. It parallels what is happening at home and at the firehouse. It is expressed in a way where a child can feel proud of their parent and come to an understanding that it's something they need to do, while loving them all the while. The book is filled with age appropriate rhyming text and colorful illustrations. It is sure to become a favorite bedtime story when daddy is on duty. In addition, this is a wonderful book to teach children who are interested in firefighting about the job, even if daddy is not a firefighter.
