Sparked by the brutal police murder of George Floyd, the second wave of the #blacklivesmatter protest movement has surged across more than 100 US cities, spilling into Brazil, South Africa, Paris and London - to name a few of the primary sites of active resistance. Matt Clement lectures Criminology at Royal Holloway University of London, UK. He is an activist scholar who has written and lectured extensively on social movements having previously worked as a teacher and community worker. He lives in Southampton, UK.
