by Nancy Dickmann (Author)

People live in all kinds of places, from bustling cities to remote mountains, and from the cold tundra to hot deserts. Our physical environment can affect the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the houses we build, and how we get around. This fascinating series takes readers on a journey around the world. By focusing on familiar, everyday activities, it shows how people's lives can be very different, but also very similar, to our own.
Coasts are places where the land meets the sea. Some are rocky and rugged, with crashing waves. Others have beautiful sandy beaches and peaceful bays. Find out what it's like to live by the coast, from living in a house on stilts to getting around by boat!

Author Biography

Nancy Dickmann grew up reading encyclopedias for fun, and after many years working in children's publishing, she now has her dream job as a full-time author. She has had over 200 titles published so far, mainly on science topics, and finds that the best part of the job is researching and learning new things. One highlight was getting to interview a real astronaut to find out about using the toilet in space!
