A wacky spin on an Old West favorite. This tall tale about a famous American cowboy takes readers on a romp into the Wild West. When Pecos Bill cannot seem to find the best hat to fit his head, he searches for creative ways to keep his noggin covered. His often humorous ideas lead to the invention of the cowboy hat. A glossary includes cowboy terms.

Front Jacket

"A delightful modern-day 'pourquoi' story explaining how the ten-gallon hat came to be. Could this be a hint of future books? If they are as fine as this one, I look forward to reading them!"
-Dick Strader, retired librarian, Willard Public Library

Set under the hot Texas sun, this hilarious tall tale reveals how Pecos Bill invented the ten-gallon hat. After trying a baseball cap, a firefighter's helmet, and even a tree branch, he finally discovers the perfect solution for protecting his noggin.
Follow the famous American cowboy, and his horse Lightning, on this colorful romp through the Wild West, and enjoy searching for the armadillo and lizard hidden on each page. In addition to portraying the humorous antics of Pecos Bill, the book offers a glossary of cowboy terms. Vibrant illustrations capture the story's comedic tone.
