He specialised for five years at the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris, France, in transportation infrastructure (CES), transport economics (DEA), and railway engineering (PhD). From 2004 - 2007, he served as the Greek representative to the Administrative Board of the European Railway Agency.
