by Jason Selk (Author), Ellen Reed (With)
From bestselling author and mental toughness expert Jason Selk comes a mind-training regimen for reframing every problem into an opportunity for productive action.
The most common cause of failing to reach our professional and personal goals is hardwired in us: Humans instinctively focus on problems. Over millennia, our very survival relied on our ability to be alert to any potential dangers that could threaten our existence. But today this negativity bias significantly limits our potential and increases stress, pressure, and underperformance. The one characteristic all phenomenally successful people share is mental toughness. Mentally tough people are better at making decisions more quickly and with better results. They possess the uncanny ability to control what goes on between their ears. Instead of allowing their minds to focus on their problems when adversity strikes, the most successful people have learned to direct their thoughts in a systematic manner that produces positive emotions and productive actions: they have a Relentless Solution Focus. In this book, top performance coach Dr. Jason Selk--former Director of Mental Training for the World Series champions St. Louis Cardinals--and his colleague Dr. Ellen Reed provide the insight, tools, and proven step-by-step framework for you to do the same. When you have Relentless Solution Focus, you think better. Your decisions garner positive results. You take action and follow through--every time. And when you do get off track, you get back on with less effort and less drama. Weakness shrinks and strength grows, creating confidence and momentum, taking you and your team to higher levels of performance and achievement.Back Jacket
Dr. Selk is absolutely correct: having the right frame of mind opens the door to so many positive outcomes in life. Doing the work to develop mental strength is an investment in yourself. He's right about something else, too: you are worth it.
--Penny Pennington, Managing Partner, Edward Jones
--Dan Rivers, Managing Partner, Northwestern Mutual "I've always been a results-oriented leader. I often know what I want done, but do not convey it in a way that translates. The way I try to improve a situation has always been to point out what is wrong. Doing that can certainly be received as negative when it's not meant to be. RSF helped me think differently, so my message comes across to people in a clearer, more concise, and more positive way."
--Michael Staenberg, President, The Staenberg Group "It's never been more important to not allow problems to consume our thoughts. This is the book the world needs to read to move forward in the best way possible."
--Maxine Clark, Founder, Build-A-Bear Workshop, and CEO, Clark-Fox Family Foundation "RSF is a simple technique that yields powerful results."
--Kelly Hall-Tompkins, award-winning, Grammy-nominated violin soloist; the "Fiddler," Bartlett Sher Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof; and Founder and Executive/Artistic Director, Music Kitchen-Food for the Soul "In a season when it's commonplace to give away our power to the problems, negativity, and divisiveness over which we have utterly no control, Jason Selk not only reminds us that it is still possible to achieve success but provides clear steps in order to do so. Relentless Solution Focus will teach you how."
--John O'Leary, #1 national bestselling author of On Fire and In Awe "In our world, perfection is only for that moment, and then something changes, and there is a new perfection. This book allows your mind to chase and conquer that thinking for better results!
--Dan Gable, champion NCAA and Olympic wrestling head coach and Olympic gold medalist "RSF has been the difference maker for my business. Through the use of RSF, I've been able to overcome hurdles and disrupt industries that were stuck in the Stone Age. For anyone looking to break out and unleash their success, RSF is the way to go!"
--Randall S. Boll, CFP, ChFC, CLU, CRPS, CLTC, TEP, ABA, CAP, MSFS, Founder and Chief Vision Officer, TBH Tax LLC "Learning to adopt an RSF mentality was a light switch moment in my life. Challenges in your business and personal life can be overcome and greater confidence built by using Relentless Solution Focus."
--Adam Chustz, Senior Vice President, Stifel Investments "Relentless Solution Focus has been my fulcrum for growth and that of those I lead. Jason taught me that what you focus on expands. Focusing on solutions, not the problem, has freed me to maximize who I am meant to be and embrace the challenge of doing so."
--Kurt M. Dorner, Managing Director, Northwestern Mutual "I have used my time with Jason and Ellen to motivate myself and my team and to passionately discover new possibilities. Since adopting RSF into my daily thinking, I've written two books, continued to build companies, and enjoy many creative pursuits that come from being open to learning more every day. Dig in, my friend."
--Norty Cohen, Founder and CEO, Moosylvania, and author of The Participation Game and Join The Brand "Read this book! Jason's approach to mental toughness and developing a Relentless Solution Focus mindset has improved my personal and professional life. More importantly, our leadership team has embraced RSF with fantastic results. There is always a solution!"
