Salty Liquor is Rainford's first full-length collection of poems. Gary Rainford lives on Swans Island in Maine year-round with his wife and daughter. His poetry, shaped by tides and saltwater, is published in a wide range of literary magazines and university journals, including North Dakota Quarterly, Words and Images, Aurorean, Omphalos, Kindred, and Blast Furnace. Rainford was a featured poet on the Maine Poetry Express, at the Roundup Writer's Zine, Artist-in-Residence in Acadia National Park, and received Topsham Public Library's Joy of the Pen 2014 Poetry Honorable Mention.
