The primary theme of the book presents the necessary thought processes specific to the execution of all baseball skills from the lowest levels to the major leagues. A secondary objective is to provide "sameness" involved in selected internal and external thoughts by incorporating a simple but necessary system allowing players to be ready to play the game pitch by pitch. A player learns to clear his mind of distractiive tension-producing thoughts following each pitch that only adversely affect execution and to direct attention to the next pitch and not to a unknown future outcome (worry) or a past outcome (distraction).
Author Biography
Al Figone has been involved in baseball for over 60 years as a player, coach, and "student of the game." It's the latter facet of Al's career that makes this book valuable as a resource in aiding players, coaches, and parents in reaching their pre-determined goals. Al's book focus is on the mental processes and applications of the psycholgical aspects of the game that can be mastered in small steps and by understanding how attention to the mental aspects of baseball deeply influences how one performs on the field. Small behavioral changes lead to huge performance gains.
