During his navy days, Jim was charged with observing, forecasting, and relaying the weather to an assortment of officers and crew in some of the most hazardous parts of the world, including the tempestuous Southern Ocean in and around the Falklands (Malvinas) and South Georgia, at the time of and following the war with Argentina.\u003cbr\u003e In 1987 Jim formed British Weather Services, now the longest established independent meteorological company in Europe.
