Fall is a colorful season in Northern New York when the apple trees are ripe with fruit. However, a blight in this colorful tale lies with the discovery of the body of a young girl found buried beneath a bin of bright red, Sweet-Tango apples, perfectly preserved in a dark, cold storage barn. The police are called and soon they arrest a Jamaican farm laborer for the crime. Private detective Marc LaRose is hired to investigate. Marc's queries take him across Lake Champlain to Burlington, Vermont, where he teams with a female innkeeper and former police detective. It's not long, however, before the two find themselves further embroiled in a complex saga of drugs, arson, human trafficking and murder.
