"Taught" captures the stories of Kelley Pomis's time as a classroom teacher, teacher coach, school board member and education advocate primarily working with students of color. Despite leading her students to academic success as measured by state and national assessments, these stories vulnerably underscore her realization of how many of her teaching "techniques" perpetuated oppressive and racist educational practices. In addition to stories, Pomis shares the lessons she came to learn, chronicled through letters to her students and tangible ways in which educators can make their classrooms and schools more liberating and inclusive. These reflections will inspire and support the development of teachers and educators working in the country's most marginalized educational communities.
