by Noel Goldberg Psy D. (Author)
Dr. Noel Goldberg has been working and training in psychology for the past 20 years trying to better understand not only the world around him, but people's behavior. While integrating this vast amount of learned knowledge and experience, he began to develop a philosophy or way to view mental illness that he thought would be helpful to others. This viewpoint translated his knowledge and experience of mental illness into basic concepts that the layperson can readily learn and apply. It has transcended into a teaching tool, whereby others might benefit from his integration of a variety of mental health issues and readily applicable solutions. This teaching tool or model began to help many individuals, especially the Military Veterans under his care. To this end, he has begun to transcribe these integrated concepts in the hopes that others can benefit from his written "teachings." He hereby presents his model entitled "The ABC's of Mental Health." If learned and applied to everyday life, many individuals can learn to better control their lives, and more importantly, their reactions to life.
Author Biography
In my 11 years in the Editing Profession, The ABC's of Mental Health: The Ten Chapters of Healing is by far one of the best books that I have come across regarding mental health, psychology and personal development. While there are a plethora of books available in the mental health genre (typically under the guise of "self-help" books), too many of them are unfortunately either dense to the point of being virtually unintelligible or written by "armchair" professionals who are not trained in the field and are merely spouting their own opinions. In my mind, Dr. Goldberg's book does not suffer from either criticism. Dr. Goldberg is an accomplished professional in the field, having worked as a practicing psychologist for over 10 years at such well-known institutions as Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, the Walter Reed Medical Center and various Veterans Affairs Medical Centers. Additionally, the book is written in an easy to understand and conversational tone. You don't have to be an expert in the field to benefit from reading The ABC's of Mental Health: The Ten Chapters of Healing but you will benefit from coming back to the book and applying the chapters over and over again. Whether you are experiencing problems (such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, behavioral issues, etc.) or you simply wish to improve the quality of your life, then this book is a must read! You cannot afford to not read this book. Martin Coffee, Editor
