Newlywed Meredith Marsten and her husband Mark Redcloud are enjoying their first summer as Managers/Owners of Baldwin Lake Fishing and Hunting Lodge when a fisherman at their Cinnamon Lake outpost is viciously mauled by a bear. Another fisherman in the party is safe, but the third man has disappeared. The bear attack sets in motion two wilderness journeys: the one of the missing man and the one of the attacking bear. The answers to these questions are gradually revealed as the story progresses. Readers will enjoy spending time in Kenora, Ontario, a charming town with engaging citizens located on the northern shore of Lake of the Woods. The hunting scene finale is heart-pounding.
