Taking my title from Jim Bishop's excellent book The day Lincoln was Shot, published in 1955, I wanted to give an hourly description of the events on the day of the martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum smith in Carthage Jail. I found in the official History of the Church a few chapters about it and the hour when each event occurs. In the end it is a record in minutes. This gives us the basis for the description in this book.
