About the Hymn

Adithya hrudayam is a powerful hymn which describes the sun god as the supreme God Brahman and praises all the divine qualities and powers of the sun. This is one of the most powerful sacred and popular hymns praising the Sun god. This wonderful hymn is in the hundred and fifth sarga (chapter) of Yuddha Khanda (section describing the great war between Rama and Ravana) in Valmiki Ramayana. The hymn was taught to prince Rama by sage Agasthya to help Rama to gain success in his great mission of defeating Ravana.

The Translation and Commentary of the Hymn

That sacred hymn is transliterated in English along with original Sanskrit text. A detailed commentary based on the old authentic and rare Sanskrit commentaries of Govindaraja and Rama the two great scholars of Sanskrit and commentators of entire Ramayana of Valmiki.
