While owning a salon space, she realized quickly the need for educating stylists and clients on curly afro-textured hair. She wanted to create a text that would help individuals learn how to work with and care for this type of hair in a way that would be entertaining and easy to follow. Author Biography

Tami C. is a professional hairstylist and owner of IMENA inc. a hair and beauty company based in Harlem, New York, She is also a social worker. She received her Master of Social Work degree from the City University of New York, Hunter College School of Social Work in June of 2011. Tami started IMENA inc. in 2008 so that clients could have a place to go to get their hair done that understands, appreciates, and embraces their diversity in hair textures, lengths, and styles. Tami C. is a mother, daughter, sister and aunt of 6 nieces and 1 nephew (Alexus, Anayah, Anaejah, Nyla, Jaylen, Ellie and Langston). Tami loves yoga, boxing, photography, knitting scarves for her friends, and serving her community through volunteering with several non profit organizations. She currently lives in Harlem, NY.
