Kalamu ya Salaam is a performance poet, a dramatist, a fiction writer, and a music critic. He is the founder of Nommo Literary Society and the founder and former editor of ""Black Collegian""""Magazine."" He is the author of ""From a Bend in the River: 100 New Orleans Poets ""and ""What Is Life?: Reclaiming the Black Blues Self."" He lives in New Orleans.
