The story of Adam and Eve has significantly impacted society by providing a foundational narrative for understanding human origins, morality, gender roles, and the concept of sin, shaping perspectives on topics like death, work, and the relationship between humans and God, particularly within Christian cultures; essentially, it serves as a framework for explaining the human condition and our shared responsibility for the consequences of choice.
The problem with the Adam and Eve story, is that we got it wrong. Most people including the clergy have taken a literal approach to understanding it.The Garden story is a symbolic narrative full of hidden truths, that need to be uncovered. It is time to go beyond our Sunday School understanding of the story and see the truths God has always wanted us to know.
