The Raven is a narrative poem, it is often noted for musical, stylized, with a supernatural feel. A raven tells of the mysterious visit to a distraught lover, tracing the man's slow descent into madness. The lover, is identified as being a student, is grieving the loss of his love, Lenore. On a bust of Pallas, the raven sits, seeming to further aggravate his anguish with its constant repetition of the word "Nevermore". Author Biography

Edgar Allen Poe was born in Boston, January 19, 1809. He died in Baltimore, October 7, 1849. His first book was Tamerlane and other Poems, published during May, 1827.The Raven was contributed to The American Review of February, 1845, and was reprinted, with emendations, under the title of The Raven and Other Poems, the same year.
