People were hovering over me like vultures hovering over a desert carcass. "Come back Dan. We miss you." I closed my eyes hoping the vultures would go away. "Where was I....What had happened...?" My thoughts were a jumble. Again, I opened my eyes. There they were with bulging eyes aimed in my direction. "Why was I so interesting to look at?" I wanted to yell, "Back off " but while the words would form in my mind, they just would not come out of my mouth. What was wrong?

They say that coming out of a coma is like being born a second time. Between smoking, drinking sodas and coffee, meeting new people, writing and my ever-present hallucinations, I have had a good afterlife-my life after coma.
