The main character "Dik Trom" is a mischievous, chubby and kindhearted boy who lived in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands in the late 1800's. Dik is constantly up to amusing antics and gains admiration from other children with his bravery, leadership skills and daring deeds. The book is part of a series with the second book due to be published in 2017. It is suitable for readers from 8 years old and up and is also an enjoyable read for adults.
