Author Biography

Marion Haines Duplantis, was born in San Bernardino, California and lived there until her marriage in 1960 to Camille C. Duplantis lll from Houma, Louisiana where she now resides. As a little girl Marion always had an active mind with pictures running in and out of her thoughts so she has put those pictures down on paper for everyone to enjoy! Her first published children's book was "The Little Pumpkin" with illustrations by her nephew, Charles Adams. Mop Bucket Meditations is an inspirational book just for mothers. It contains true stories which were written while Marion was raising her 5 children. It is a book to help a mother see God in her everyday life. Claudine Boquet did the whimsical illustrations in this book. Marion also loves to cook so has published a 750 recipe cook book called "From California to Cocodrie" They are all tried and true recipes from coast to coast. "The Worm Who Lost His Wiggle" is her newest addition and is bound to cause giggles and laughter when the children see the worm without his "wiggle." Marion has several other stories waiting to be published, books to make you laugh and books to make you cry. Having lost two of her children already, she has a very tender heart for the young. "I like to help the little ones get a positive message from my books," she says. Marion has nine grand-children and six great grandchildren so she has plenty of inspiration for a lot more fun stories! Her writing career began with writing a skit to be used in the Cleanest City Contest. The skit called "Auntie Litter" won the State Award and was presented in all of the schools in Terrebonne Parish. She also wrote a musical puppet play which her Homemaker's Holiday club presented, with each member making their own puppets. A victim of childhood sexual abuse she will soon release a book to help young victims cope with this in their lives. Because Marion is a singer she will also incorporate music and her love of music into her next stories. Her books are all colorful with nice bright pictures. Her stories are straight from her heart. Hopefully they will touch the hearts of all of her readers, young and old!
