"Understanding English Tenses" breaks with the traditional approach of teaching Enlisch verb constructions on the basis of tenses because such method serves the interests of only teachers and publishers. They offer to teach an "easy" version of the language which, however, is not exactly compatible with the true shape of English. In contrast, "Understanding English Tenses" concentrates on the elementary components of which verb forms (also tenses) are made, which makes it possible to present and explain not only the complete list of factors and mechanisms that determine the correctness and meaning of an English verb but also to discuss how they change the meaning of a verb in different combinations of grammatical constructions. As a result, the handbook may become an invaluable tool for all those who need to know precisely how the English works, either to teach it correctly or learn it in a rational rather than intuitive way.
