On September 13, 2022, 22 year-old Mahsa Amini was arrested by the morality police in Tehran for wearing an improper hijab and showing too many strands of hair. She was brutally beaten and later died in a local hospital. Her death ignited a massive woman-led uprising in Iran and her name achieved world-wide status in just a few short hours.
