Victory in Europe: A People's History of the Second World War is intended to be a companion for anyone seeking to better understand, increase their knowledge of, or pay tribute to those who served in the War. As we observe the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe on May 8, 2015, I feel compelled to give readers a starting point-a comprehensive book of the war in Europe that will either answer questions or lead them to deeper research on their own. Finally, this book is not just a biographical military history; rather, it is a narrative of the time period. Accordingly, I cover a considerable amount of detail on the Holocaust, partisan and anti-partisan warfare, the contributions of civilians, women, and multiple minorities, as well as breakthroughs in military intelligence and science.
